Calling his experience with the food culture in Japan \u201cmind-blowing\u201d, he spent the rest of his time there planning how he could bring something as amazing back to Singapore. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>From IT Firm To A Hawker Stall<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given that Daniel had no prior background in F&amp;B, he decided to enlist the help of his cousin, Charles Yoshida &#8212; who is coincidentally half Japanese, and his trusted friend Aik Guan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe had stumbled upon many hurdles while setting the business up, and surveyed many locations for our concept.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They had initially planned to set-up shop in a mall or a shop front but decided to pull out when they realised\u00a0that their current investors would want to own a big part of the business.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Humble Beginnings<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8601 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/server1.webstudio.com.sg\/~staging\/ypsg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"761\" height=\"569\" srcset=\"https:\/\/server1.webstudio.com.sg\/~staging\/ypsg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/2.png 761w, https:\/\/server1.webstudio.com.sg\/~staging\/ypsg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/2-480x359.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 761px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cInstead of relying on others, we decided to start small at a humble hawker centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Building something we can call our own and driving the company forward with our own vision sounds better to us.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The trio helming the kitchen and day to day operations admit that \u201cit is definitely exhausting and poses a huge change to our lifestyle\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-8600 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/server1.webstudio.com.sg\/~staging\/ypsg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-13-at-12.09.47-am-959x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"959\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daniel counts himself lucky that he only has the stall to focus on &#8212; his two partners Charles and Aik Guan, however, have to divide their time between Gyu Nami and the cafe\/restaurant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the trio, they\u2019ve learned to be \u201cmore disciplined, social life and time for ourselves have decreased due to long working hours.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">25-year-old founder Daniel even joked that running the stall meant much \u201cless partying and socializing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>The Star Of The Show<\/b><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_8603\" style=\"width: 1150px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8603\" class=\"wp-image-8603 size-lg-hor\" src=\"https:\/\/server1.webstudio.com.sg\/~staging\/ypsg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Wagyu-Roast-Beef-Donburi-Best-Beef-in-Singapore-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-8603\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thelazymeater.com\/good-value\/gyu-nami-wagyu-roast-beef-donburi\/\">Source<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daniel revealed \u201cthat they were deciding on the menu which consisted of quite a few special dishes and we had minimized it to 2, however, due to the stall constraints my cousin urged us to focus on 1 dish.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHaving only 1 dish is actually very unique and we can focus a lot on perfecting and serving it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Priced at $10, the Wagyu Roast Beef Donburi is definitely a steep price to pay for a meal at Amoy Street Food Centre but a steal for such a gourmet Japanese fare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-lg-hor wp-image-8604 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/server1.webstudio.com.sg\/~staging\/ypsg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/4-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bowl of lightly spiced Japanese rice is topped with generous slices of roasted wagyu beef, drizzled with creamy yogurt sauce and an onsen egg for good measure. Their signature yogurt sauce complements the tender and juicy slices of beef and the entire bowl is simply a treat for your tastebuds &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">especially when the different components are mixed together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being the new kid on the block, the trio wants to \u201ctake everything into consideration as we want to take something like introducing a new dish seriously.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe will only put something in our menu if we think it\u2019s delicious and mind-blowing, without deviating too far from our concept &#8212; which is not an easy thing to do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the meantime, head down to Amoy Street for this delicious donburi with a mound of medium-rare beef slices.
