Here\u2019s\u00a0where\u00a0the\u00a0White Collection<\/i>\u00a0<\/i>by international\u00a0celebrity couturier Elizabeth Grace\u00a0<\/i>makes the difference.<\/p>\n

Gowns Made-to-Measure: A Commitment to Customer Personalisation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In conjunction\u00a0with the opening of the new\u00a0Elizabeth Grace Couture<\/a>, an European-styled bridal atelier at Tanglin Shopping Centre, the\u00a0White Collection,<\/i>\u00a0a collection of ready-to-wear bridal separates, was launched early last month.<\/p>\n

These versatile bridal separates transform a stunning wedding dress into a sleek pantsuit or a whimsical evening gown.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth of Elizabeth Grace Couture<\/p><\/div>\n

E<\/span><\/span>ach gown is made-to-measure<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0starting with a 3D scanning consultation at the atelier<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u2013\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a demonstration of<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Elizabeth Grace Couture\u2019s commitment to customer personalisation. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Once scanned, 3D printing technology produces an accurate mannequin with which the atelier\u2019s dressmakers can then produce a perfectly-fitted gown. Each gown takes\u00a0<\/span><\/span>three to six<\/span><\/span>\u00a0months to produce, and is handmade from a mixture of European fabrics, and Japanese and French laces in a classic white, ivory<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and cream colour palette.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We spoke to Elizabeth\u00a0to find out more about her journey as a bridal couturier, as well as the plans and direction for the near future.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth, who holds a degree in Fashion Design and Technology, is an alumnus of the Manchester Metropolitan University in England.\u00a0After graduating, she worked as a formal womenswear designer, and designed collections for brands such as Topshop, New Look, Dorothy Perkins and Marks & Spencer in London.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Five years ago, she moved to Singapore to launch Lazada\u2019s formalwear line, LZD.<\/p>\n

In addition to Elizabeth Grace Couture,\u00a0Elizabeth\u00a0also has a men’s suit collection, under the label\u00a0John Grace<\/a>.\u00a0Similarly,\u00a0with this label as in Elizabeth Grace Couture,\u00a0Elizabeth uses\u00a0advanced 3D scanning and printing technology to eliminate the multiple fitting process.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy using this technology, I\u2019m able to create a perfectly tailored suit in one fitting. It is a massive time-saver for my busy customers who don’t have the time to attend multiple fittings!\u201d<\/p>\n

Whimsical Fancies Of Childhood Fulfilled<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Elizabeth’s\u00a0foray into fashion designing began when she was a little girl, self-described to be \u201cobsessed with the beauty of wedding gowns.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In addition, having a strong design background runs in her family: her grandmother made her mother’s wedding dress, which was then made into\u00a0Elizabeth’s first Holy Communion dress.\u00a0At the age of sixteen,\u00a0Elizabeth\u00a0proceeded to design her own dress for her high school formal \u2013 her first design \u2013 which her grandmother then made.<\/p>\n

Today,\u00a0Elizabeth\u00a0continues to design gowns similar to the one she first made, a champagne satin fishtail gown with an open back and diamante crystal straps.<\/p>\n

Her own\u00a0experience of being a bride-to-be\u00a0\u2013\u00a0when she was looking for wedding dress boutiques in Singapore\u00a0\u2013 sparked her switch from formalwear to\u00a0bridalwear.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was quite surprised to see lower quality gowns for sale\u00a0at relatively high prices. At the other end of the spectrum, there were gorgeous, high-quality gowns that were totally unaffordable.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As she had already had a decade\u2019s worth of experience as a professional designer at that point,\u00a0Elizabeth\u00a0had \u201ca fair bit\u201d of knowledge about fabric quality and procurement.<\/p>\n

Hence, when her mother told her she \u201ccould probably do a better job\u201d if she designed her own bridalwear \u2013 she did!<\/p>\n

\u201cLuckily, my mother\u00a0was right (as they always are),\u201d\u00a0she\u00a0quipped.<\/p>\n

One Size Doesn’t Fit All<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Given her experience as a professional designer and bridal couturier thus far, Elizabeth believes that no bride is the same.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere really isn’t a\u00a0‘one size fits all\u2019\u00a0in this industry. Everyone has their own unique circumstances, personal style, wedding preference, family values, body shape, and so on\u00a0\u2013\u00a0which changes the look of their gown,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n

Hence, it is of little surprise that she describes her experience thus far as \u201ca really personal journey,\u201d from which she has gotten to know the brides she dresses as her friends, not just as her customers.<\/p>\n

Dressing To Impress: Shaping Your Own Story<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Having been to the launch event for the new atelier, where the guests were mainly an expatriate crowd, I couldn’t help wondering if that was the intended target audience for the brand’s niche. To my surprise, this is not intended to be the case\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the brand is targeted\u00a0both<\/i>\u00a0at locals and expatriates alike.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of my customers are expats, but I feel that local Singaporeans are beginning to want a new story,\u201d Elizabeth\u00a0explains.<\/p>\n

She observes that while Singapore brides want to follow tradition and familial expectations, they also want to stand out among their peers\u00a0\u2013\u00a0hence, she aims to\u00a0provide dresses that can be transformed into different styles throughout the day,\u00a0\u201cso brides can now have a dress that has the potential to impress everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
