4. Human+

Source

With the advances in genetic engineering and biotechnology, we live in a world with artificial intelligence, lifelike robots, and genetic modification. This calls to mind one question: What does it mean to be human now?

The HUMAN+ exhibition explores the future paths of our species, questioning the social, ethical and environmental factors involved in the use of technology for self-modification. The exhibition showcases work by international artists, scientists, technologists, and designers, showing the transformation of our humanity.

While the exhibition will be ongoing until 15th October, local group SG Futurists has organised a one-day guided tour on 3rd September, bringing you through the exhibition with insights in relation to humanism.

5. A PAW-sitive Art Experience for Pets

Source

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, leading pet food brand Wellness® will be presenting the world’s first art exhibition for pets, specifically dogs and cats. With the aim of promoting holistic fun through experiential play, 10 art installations by local artists will be featured for pet parents and their fur kids as they enjoy a unique bonding opportunity. To ensure a safe experience for all participating pets, these installations were designed and created under the guidance of in-house vets and animal behaviourists.

A Whole New World by Adeline Tan

Inspired by the Disney classic, Aladdin, Adeline’s magic carpet installation brings your canine pals into a whole new world. While ‘flying’ through the clouds, your furry friends will enjoy projected images of flying toys and chicken drumlets, while the song ‘A Whole New World’ will be played at a special frequency that is only audible to dogs. Now, this is what you call a full sensory experience!

In the Cat’s Belly by Kelly Limerick

Don’t worry, your feline friends won’t be left out! In the ‘Cat-ception’-inspired installation, the giant cat structure contains four hollow rooms, perfect for curious cats to explore. When pet parents pull the tail of the cat, feathers and bells inside the installation will move, inviting your furry friends inside to ‘hunt’ in the darkness of the belly.

Entry to the exhibition is free, but pet parents are strongly encouraged to register online as walk-ins will not be entertained once the slots are fully booked. Upon registration, 90-minute time slots will be allocated to avoid overcrowding and to ensure a comfortable experience for all.

Dates: 30th September – 8th October
Time: Sunday to Thursday: 11am-9pm. Friday to Saturday: 10am-10pm.
Venue: School Of The Arts (SOTA)
