Gags aside, April is set to be a serious month of happenings.

Here’s a list of incredible things to do in Singapore in April 2019 – we’re talking events, concerts, fleas and everything in-between.

1. Mermaid Tank Installation @ ION

As part of ION Orchard’s 10th anniversary celebrations, the mall is setting up its first-ever mermaid tank installation – complete with live mermaids.

The installation is part of ION Orchard’s Spring/Summer fashion season, a vibrant collision of nature and undersea fantasy.

As the outdoor space transforms into a dreamlike fashion garden, the centerpiece is, of course, the purpose-built mermaid aquarium tank—2.4 metres tall and containing some 8,000 litres of seawater.

It’s not just all passive gawking through the glass too. The installation includes a special optical-illusion see-through water ceiling within the aquatic garden, accented with floral backdrops and photo-ready false greenery.

It’s on weekends so feel free to stop by the glittering mirror-panelled facade for selfies and meet-and-greets with the mermaid.

3. ‘I Would Prefer Not To Do Anything’ Exhibition

Held poignantly at CBD gallery Hatch Art Project, I Would Prefer Not To Do Anything is a look at deep-rooted fatigue in today’s society.

Iqi Qoror’s exhibition portrays a melancholic, almost surrealist perspective that captures our deep-rooted fatigue living in today’s society.

Accompanying the show is an exhibition catalogue presented as an adult picture book, with words by local cultural critic Reena Devi weaving new life and stories into Qoror’s images.
